Good movies on Film 4

Voor wie het Engels goed kan volgen is Film 4 één van de mooiste zenders op 28 graden oost. Via Astra-2D is het Filmkanaal van Channel 4 al een tijdje Free To Air te ontvangen en met andere woorden dus...helemaal gratis! Een aantal interessante films van de komende dagen op een rij (we geven de teaser in het Engels, wie de film zal willen volgen zal die taal moeten beheersen, overigens is daarbij de ondertiteling ook behulpzaam). Batman Returns: zaterdag 6 oktober: 22.00 uur
(1992) Having successfully helmed the original, Tim Burton returned for the sequel, which once again stars Michael Keaton as Batman. Bucking the trend of inferior follow-ups, the result is actually darker, funnier, camper and sexier than its predecessor.

The Beverly Hillibillies: zaterdag 6 oktober 20.15 uur
(1993) Based on the classic TV series, Jim Varney heads up the Clampett family as Jed, who finds oil on his Arkansas farm. Deciding that his daughter Elly May (Erika Eleniak) needs to become a 'lady', the family move to Beverly Hills, where their boondock ways cause problems with locals.

The Cider House Rules: zondag 7 oktober om 22.00 uur
(1999) John Irving's adaptation of his own novel won him an Oscar for Lasse Hallstrom's drama starring Tobey Maguire and Michael Caine.
The story concerns Homer Wells (Maguire, who specialises in troubled young men), a boy raised in an orphanage in Maine with the institution's kindly, ether-sniffing boss Dr Larch (Caine) as his father stand-in. To bring about his own coming-of-age, Homer leaves the orphanage and gets work on an orchard, where he falls for Candy Kendall (Theron), whose husband (Rudd) is away fighting in the World War II, and learns about race, class and society - but mostly about love - before returning to the orphanage.

Little Red Flowers maandag op dinsdag: 00.40 uur
(2006) Set in Beijing in the mid-1950s, Zhang Yuan's Little Red Flowers tells the story of a rebellious four-year old boy who runs riot at his kindergarten boarding school. In Mandarin with English subtitles.
